Since the growth of single-crystal hBN film via self-collimation in 2018, our group focused on the growth of single-crystal transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD).

Recently, we developed a template for growing single-crystal TMD in a wafer-scale. The atomic sawtooth Au surface allows the anisotropic adsorption energy of TMD clusters to yield unidirectional epitaxial growth of triangular TMD grains, eventually forming a single-crystal TMD films, regardless of the Miller indices.
